the greater good in healthcare, education, and military communities
because they are under greater demands than ever before. These fields have seen a rapid rise in occupational stress disorders and diseases of despair - resulting in burnout, compassion fatigue and suicide outcomes far above other occupations.
to empower a team of Genius Break Project Leaders to conduct collaborate with leaders, teams, organizations and agencies to tailor Genius Break tools, training, and technical assistance for their real-time needs. Together we make well-being happen!
As a pioneer in bringing mindfulness, movement and yoga into healthcare, education, and military settings, Dr. Suzie Carmack, PhD, MFA, MEd, ERYT 500, NBC-HWC wrote Genius Breaks in 2017 to share her unique method for designing mini-breaks of mindfulness, movement and meaning with the public. In 2020 the book became a #1 Amazon best seller, and today it continues to inspire people worldwide to well-being.
But it was 10 years prior - in 2007 - when Dr. Carmack developed the Genius Break Method (which she then called Centeredbeing) to help her c-suite clients (military leaders, private sector clients, and CEOs) to center their day -- in between their yoga and coaching sessions. They liked them so much that they started inviting her to share them with their teams, and suddenly news of this little "genius" idea spread.
Since then, Dr. Carmack has been invited to share the Genius Break method with thousands of geniuses of all ages - inspiring school students, leaders, CEO's, teams, organizations, and even government agencies to put more mindfulness, movement and meaning (self-compassion) into their day. She has also received personal invitations to share Genius Breaks with the global team of the Pan American / World Health Organization (2013-2015); the U.S. Treasury Department (2020); the U.S. Air Force (2018; 2019; 2020; 2021); the U.S. Department of Education (2021) and multiple school districts, healthcare systems, and private sector teams.
In 2018, the demand became so great that she decided to create a training program to train coaches to bring the Genius Break Method into their communities - homes, schools, offices, and healthcare systems. Today, over 500 coaches from 5 continents have been trained to share the Genius Break Method, as part of Dr. Carmack's YogaMedCo training program (approved and endorsed by the Yoga Alliance and the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching).
In 2021, Dr. Carmack reached out to a team of collaborators to co-found the Genius Break Project to Serve Geniuses who Serve -- with a focus on empowering a team of Genius Break Project Leaders to partner with leaders and teams in healthcare, education and military community settings. These leaders are trained in a 9 month mentoring program to co-create cultures of well-being using the Genius Breaks Project's evidence-informed tools, training, and technical assistance.
Our mission is to prevent the occupational stress disorders and diseases of despair that plague workers and leaders in these fields by delivering the Genius Breaks Method via tools, training experiences, and technical assistance (consulting). We know that together we can make well-being happen -- and stop the rapid rise of occupational stress disorders such as burnout, compassion fatigue and suicide.
